Neptune – Mice and Worms (12.14.05)

Posted on July 28, 2008

Quietly put out by “Self Release Records,” issued exclusively on vinyl (with carefully hand-savaged sleeves), and chronically hard to get ahold of, Neptune’s latest finds them at their sharpest. Scrapping a lot of the wrecked percussion sounds and dank atmospherics of previous albums, Mice and Worms could be a pit fight between rusty mad scientist robot surgeons. Touchy shop-class electronics and drums that sound like tanks power the six claustrophobic songs on this record, while Jason Sanford guides us with nervous, jumping-rope-at-gunpoint vocals on a dirty fiber-optic trip up into the human body.
