YEA BIG—THE WIND THAT BLOWS THE ROBOTS ARMS (Jib Door)

If the year of 2006 doesn’t shape up to be The Year of the Cellophane Beat, just forget it. Don’t come to me for any more advice about music. Yea Big starts off their instrumental CD with two tracks full of cold beats adorned by the swishing sound of a sugar addict ripping through a whole box of Pop-Tarts. Watery samples rush by at warp speed, stretching and snapping like rubber bands. With its 25 efficiently timed tracks, The Robot’s Arms is less like hip-hop and more like a lesson in frying your laptop and dancing to microcassette field recordings.
