The NEC and Callithumpian Consort Take On Stockhausen, Boston Phoenix 2.19.09

Posted on February 19, 2009

I interviewed Stephen Drury — mad pianist and leader of both the Callithumpian Consort and the New England Conservatory’s Shivaree group — about his upcoming take on Stockhausen’s landmark collection of text-only compositions, aus den Sieben Tagen. The performance, this Sunday at the Conservatory’s Brown Hall (and free!) will include both groups along with a host of prickly guest musicians (among them: Roger Miller, Vic Rawlings, Greg Kelly, Bhob Rainey, and Luke Moldof).

Bonus: One man’s incredible take on the official Stockhausen 7-disc, 1969 recording of Sieben Tagen.
